First Thoughts: Here we go again
Wed May 16, 2012
Boehner knows how badly he came out of the last showdown, but I think he's driven to make his remarks by the 80 Republican newbies in the House. The few moderates left will cave to avoid a bloodbath in November.
First Thoughts: Five reasons Lugar likely loses
Tue May 8, 2012
Romney has to be careful not to alienate too many Paul delegates and supporters. Assuming the election will be close and hinge on razor-thin margins in swing states, Romney cannot afford to have, say, 80% of Paul supporters stay home.
Gingrich finally suspends bid for the presidency
Wed May 2, 2012
"Now that Governor Romney has agreed to help retire my campaign debts, I am going to say nice things about him. Maybe I can finally get away from Callista for an hour or two."
Rubio acknowledges 'mistake' in using GOP credit card
Mon Apr 30, 2012
It wasn't a credit card; it was an AmEx card, which is totally different, except the AmEx card gives you a thirty day revolving credit line just like other credit cards. It wasn't a credit card, but I was able to use like one... Please pick Rubio.
First Thoughts: Driving a message and pushing the limits
Fri Apr 27, 2012
Incumbency has tremendous built-in advantages and places on any challenger the extra burden of overcoming the incumbent's public pulpit.
Boehner emerges as Romney's chief ally on Capitol Hill
Thu Apr 26, 2012
What's surprising about Boehner's efforts in behalf of Romney? His Speaker's job is on the line in this election and he's in real danger of losing it. Helping Romney (even if Mitt loses) helps House Republicans.
VIDEO: Breaking down the new NBC battleground map
Thu Apr 26, 2012
If Romney picks his running-mate from Florida, then Obama must win Ohio and vice-versa. I'm surprised to see Colorado as a toss-up. The way this map looks on September 1st will tell us a great deal about how close (or not) the election will be.
Gingrich to leave campaign, but not the national spotlight
Wed Apr 25, 2012
I actually believe this is the last we'll see of Gingrich as a candidate or public office holder. He'll figure out ways to keep his name alive in the blogosphere and he'll give speeches, but politically speaking, he's over.
First criminal charges filed related to BP oil spill
Tue Apr 24, 2012
I think Holder and Justice betgter step up and go after the Lehman Brothers execs who brought on the near Depression of 08.
First Thoughts: Romney's half pivot
Tue Apr 24, 2012
Romney will make many pseudo-pivots in the campaign but they won't work. I think the fact he is person without substance, without a center hurts him more than anything else.
